Backpacking Glacier National Park

Planning a backpacking trip to Glacier while we are there for Alyssa's wedding this year in Aug 2016. The photo above is one of the destination sites I am planning for camping overnight. Pretty amazing right ?

I am currently working on the list of hikers there will be restrictions on the number we can take so we may have to consider separating depending on our size. We can pack with up to 12 in our party but it might limit our options for camp sites since we would pretty much overrun any camp ground.

Currently we have 14 who have expressed interest.
Ron & ;Dale
Caleb and Sarah - hopefully
Amanda and Korey
Chris- iffy for now ( still working on Kath)
Kimbo & Sylvia - maybe
Jason ,   Paul iffy
Melissa Mowat
Chad  Kristy

Update on a debate from the Adirondack hiking trip in 2015.
The issue was bathing in the wilderness
I came across this instructional note in a review of this issue. Basically everyone in the wilderness is sharing the same stream and no one wants to be down stream from someone washing at the stream side. There does not seem to be a prohibition of swimming but there is of using soap in the stream or lake.

Wash waterCarry water at least 70 adult steps (200 feet/60 meters) from a lake or stream to wash yourself or your dishes. Use biodegradable soap. When disposing wash water, first filter out all food scraps with a small screen. Pack the food scraps into an airtight container to be carried out later. Then toss out the wash water by throwing it over a wide area.
  • Never wash directly in a lake or stream.
  • Do not scatter food scraps in the water or on the ground.
  • Do not throw food into pit toilets.
  • Pack out all food scraps, trash, and uneaten food.
